2019 VW Beetle Dune Colors, Interior, Rumors, Concept – Volkswagen has subtly confirmed plans to construct up the 2019 VW Beetle Dune concept which has been introduced at last year’s Detroit Motor show. Like the show auto, the manufacturing version will find a rugged, allroad-like appearance with plastic panels, more aggressive bumpers on both the ends and a ground clearance.

This won’t come as a shock, given the industry’s leadership: the Beetle, when it soldiers on, will not do this with an on-board gas tank. “When we wanted to perform a Beetle, electrically it would be much better than today’s version, much closer to history, since it could possibly be rear-wheel drive,” Diess explained. The projected electric Beetle would share its versatile MEB system underpinnings using a number including the Microbus.

While there’s surely powertrain advancements in store for this far-away time, a direct carryover of their business’s planned electrical propulsion systems can put roughly 200 horsepower and gobs of torque into the Beetle’s back wheels.
